Cirrus On Comeback Trail

French MG1SW Cirrus Des Aigles (Fr) (Even Top {Ire}) looks likely to make a belated first appearance in Ireland next month for the G1 Irish Champion S. at Leopardstown Sept. 12. The seven-time Group 1-winning veteran picked up an injury in the G1 Prix D’Ispahan at Longchamp in May, but his trainer, Corine Barande-Barbe, reports the gelding is approaching peak fitness.

Barande-Barbe said, “Cirrus Des Aigles is recovering well from his injury and is on schedule to run in the Irish Champion S. at Leopardstown as a prep race for the [G1 QIPCO] Champion S. at Ascot [Oct. 17], with the [G2 Qatar] Prix Dollar [Oct. 3] a possibility in between the two.”
